Blood volume at each time point for single bronchoscopy protocol and longitudinal bronchoscopy protocol = 35cc. Blood volume at each time point for respiratory failure patients in the ICU = 10cc. Blood volume at each time point for burn patients in the ICU = 5cc. BAL yield for ambulatory participants = up to 175-200cc (depending on volume of saline used) with 10-20 million WBCs; for critically ill patients = 10-20cc with 10-20 million WBCs. Mini BAL yield = 1-4cc with 1-10 million WBCs. |
