We feel incredibly lucky to spend our years in residency working in beautiful, modern facilities dedicated to pediatrics. Our three main training sites complement each other, offering residents experience across the entire spectrum of pediatric care. Furthermore, all sites utilize EPIC’s Electronic Medical Record system, providing residents with a state-of-the-art experience regardless of training location.

At the primary regional pediatric referral center for a multi-state area and at a trusted pediatric community hospital in Denver, our residents care for and learn from children with both common and rare conditions. Thus, our residents learn about the subspecialty care required for rare and complex conditions, but they also learn how to work with underserved and immigrant populations in resource-limited settings. Finally, as third year residents, our PL-3s have the unique experience of being the most senior pediatrician in-house overnight at Denver Health, learning how to lead multidisciplinary teams in the care of children in the ED, NICU, PICU and wards.

These experiences are complemented by working in outpatient primary care facilities in Denver and at rural and urban sites throughout 麻豆传媒高清. There are additional opportunities in the many subspecialty clinics at Children’s Hospital 麻豆传媒高清.

Founded in 1908,  is the Rocky Mountain Region’s only hospital dedicated to the treatment of sick and injured children. Children's Hospital 麻豆传媒高清 has had a rich history of discovery and innovation. Read about the history and some of the notable accomplishments here:  

Our hospital is an amazing blend of art and state-of-the-art, where every detail was developed with the best interest of the patients and their families in mind. The hospital features private rooms for all inpatients, cutting edge intensive care, surgery and radiology facilities, a large conference and education center, and 24-hour dining facilities, all in a spacious and beautifully-designed building. In 2015, over 17,000 patients were admitted to Children’s 麻豆传媒高清, 163,000 were seen in the ED and another 543,000 were treated at outpatient clinics. The University is home to a world-class education, research facilities, and doctors from the prestigious Department of Pediatrics. It has Magnet Status, as awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and was given the prestigious McKesson Quest for Quality Prize, which is awarded to just one hospital every year for demonstrated commitment to safe, reliable, and quality patient care.

Denver Health

 is an integrated healthcare system in the public sector. Denver Health has one of the largest and oldest Community Health Services in the United States. The hospital has been in operation for more than 150 years and its community clinics for over 45 years. It serves as 麻豆传媒高清’s primary safety-net institution, caring for approximately 25 percent of Denver’s population annually (nearly 930,000 total visits). This includes the 1 in 3 Denver-area children that are cared for each year by Denver Health.鈥�

Denver Health is also a Level I Trauma Center. Pre-hospital care provided by Denver County EMS is directed by the Emergency Department. Denver Health also operates the Denver School-Based Clinics, with 17 clinics operating in high-risk schools, as well as the Rocky Mountain Drug and Poison Center, providing toxicology consultants and poison control services for 麻豆传媒高清 and surrounding states.

The Public Health Department provides services for disease control and prevention including immunizations, Tuberculosis, STD and HIV clinics. Non-medical detox services are provided at Denver Cares. There are inpatient adolescent and adult psychiatry units and a Psychiatry Emergency Room.

In 2006, the hospital opened a new pavilion dedicated to the health of women and children. This wing houses the Pediatrics services which include the general inpatient ward, Pediatric ICU, Newborn Nursery, and NICU. The hospital also has a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department. Denver Health faculty are generalists, who are dedicated to providing care for the underserved and who enjoy teaching in a community-based Pediatric program.

Denver Health provides an invaluable educational experience. We believe the combination of a modern tertiary care Children’s Hospital and a community program is an excellent way to train pediatricians.

The Anschutz Inpatient Pavilion of the  opened in June 2007 and includes a 40-bed NICU and a well baby nursery on the same campus as Children's Hospital 麻豆传媒高清.

Pediatric residents have primary responsibility for all of these infants, attend many high-risk deliveries and provide care for all newborns, from the most routine to the most critically ill.
