There are a number of different types of infections that occur in the lungs, including:
- Tuberculosis (TB)
- Multi-drug-resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB)
- Non-tuberculous Mycobacterial Infections (NTM)
- Fungal Lung Infections
- Bacterial Lung Infections
The first line of treatment for most lung infections is drug therapy. When the infecting agent has built up resistance to drugs and/or has caused extensive damage to a particular part of a lung, surgical intervention may provide the best outcome.
