GI (gastrointestinal) refers to a practice of surgery that focuses on the gastrointestinal tract. This includes bariatric and minimally invasive or robotic surgery, hernia surgery, and colon and rectal surgery. Trauma surgery is a surgical specialty that utilizes both operative and non-operative management to treat traumatic injuries, typically in an acute setting. The Trauma Surgery Team also provides surgical care for emergency general surgery conditions and performs Surgical Critical Care in the Intensive Care Unit. Endocrine surgery is a surgical subspecialty focusing on surgery of the endocrine glands, including the thyroid, the parathyroids, the adrenal glands, the endocrine pancreas, and some neuroendocrine glands.
