Research Groups (Work-in-Progress, or WIPs)

ACCORDS hosts several research works in progress communities to facilitate collaboration around topic areas in health services research. ACCORDS provides meeting space and scheduling assistance. Description: The Health Services Research (HSR) Work-in-Progress (WIP) has existed to support HSR researchers for over 25 years and brings together senior and junior MD and PhD researchers from across the Anschutz campus, and partnering institutions, such as Denver Health and Kaiser Permanente. This WIP, now housed at ACCORDS, is rather unique in the consistent participation of many senior HSR researchers.  &�Բ��;

�ѱ𳾲��󾱱�: Currently, there are 18 regular members meeting virtually 8am on Mondays by videoconference. Participation is by invitation and requires regular and consistent participation.

Meeting Schedule: Weekly virtual meeting on Mondays at 8:00 a.m. On a weekly basis, researchers present their ongoing research in a regular rotation.

Description: Career Development Award Focused for junior faculty who focus on health services or health outcomes research and are preparing to submit Career Development Award applications.

Description: The Patient-Centered Decisions Core is located at the Adult and Child Center for Outcomes Research and Delivery Science (ACCORDS). Our goal is to empower patients and clinicians to make patient-centered decisions, to develop evidence-based tools and strategies to support those decisions, and to foster healthcare culture change. Our collaboration takes a broad view of shared decision-making and brings together multidisciplinary expertise in the development of materials, measurement of outcomes, and implementation into practice settings. Our group currently consists of principal investigators, research services professionals, and trainees. It has been successful in obtaining funding from private foundations, the NIH, and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. Our works in progress sessions are for those interested in shared decision making and patient centered care.

Description: Cardiovascular (CV) outcomes research, with a focus on early faculty. The �鶹��ý�� Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (CCOR) Consortium is a multidisciplinary group of investigators from the University of �鶹��ý�� (UCD), Denver Health (DH), the Denver VA, and other like-minded organizations. It was started by John Rumsfeld, Ed Havranek, Fred Masoudi, David Magid in 1997 and has grown and evolved over the years. It has a strong track record of helping young cardiovascular health-services investigators obtain career development awards (K, VA CDA). CCOR is currently hosted by ACCORDS through the Division of Cardiology.

We have a CPPCD WIP on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 3-4. We also have a shared CCOR/CPPCD WIP on the first Wednesday of the month at 10 AM. Presenters can choose to present for 30 minutes or the full hour at either WIP. Sign up for both WIPs is on the or by emailing Kate Noonan.

Membership: This is a community of cardiovascular outcomes researchers who meet Wednesday mornings to support early stage investigators and discuss works-in-progress. All are welcome.

Meeting Schedule: 9am – 11am on most Wednesday mornings. There are usually 2-3 topics covered.

Description: Integrates WIPS with a variety of other related activities such as journal club discussions, invited guests, group activities on new directions in the field, etc.

Meeting Schedule: Currently meets first and third Tuesdays of the month for 90 minutes at 2:30 pm and usually have 2 topics- each for 45 minutes

Hosting office hours on the first Monday of each month from 3:00-4:00 pm MT and the fourth Thursday from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm MT.

Description: The imPROve Working Group is a multi-disciplinary cohort of University of �鶹��ý��-affiliated researchers and supporting staff focused on the integration of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) into research and clinical settings. imPROve serves as a think tank for innovative PRO methodologic research and enables cross-disciplinary collaboration and discussion among investigators.

Membership: Membership is open to anyone interested in the use of PROs in research or clinical practice.  Please reach out to Sarah and/or Ajay if you are interested in joining this WIP.

Meeting Schedule: Monthly on the last Tuesday of the month, from 9-10am on Zoom.

Description: The Immunization Delivery Work-in-Progress brings together a group of multidisciplinary investigators from Children’s Hospital �鶹��ý��, University of �鶹��ý��, and Denver Health who work in the field of immunization delivery. Topics generally covered include identifying and exploring barriers to vaccination, developing and testing interventions to increase vaccination uptake, new grant ideas, manuscript development, and interpretation of study findings.

Membership: There are currently 7 active members, and all are welcome.

Meeting Schedule: Monthly, third Wednesday of each month at 10-11 a.m. Virtual and in-person at ACCORDS. Rotating schedule of presenters.

Description: Highly interprofessional group of researchers interested in aging and geriatrics-related health service research. Common topics include mobility and falls, cognitive impairment and dementia, shared decision making for older adults, family caregiving, elder abuse, and more.

Membership: All are welcome, including trainees and faculty. We encourage regular and in-person attendance to promote collaboration and communication.

Meeting Schedule: Monthly, 3rd Thursdays, at 8:45 AM – 10 AM

Location: ACCORDS in Anschutz Health Sciences Building and by Zoom

Description: Highly interprofessional group of palliative care researchers interested in improving palliative care, including symptom and serious illness care across the life-span. Common areas include cancer, advanced heart and lung disease, chronic medical conditions, aging, dementia, family caregiving, and more.

Membership: All are welcome, including trainees and faculty. We encourage regular attendance to promote ongoing collaboration.

Meeting Schedule: Twice a month, 2nd and 3rd Tuesdays at noon,
