Chair's Letter

Welcome to the Department of Dermatology at the University of 麻豆传媒高清 School of Medicine. We are an integrated department that spans the Anschutz Medical Campus, providing care at , and . We also care for patients at , 麻豆传媒高清's primary safety-net institution. We pride ourselves on being an internationally renowned program that provides comprehensive resources for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions of the skin. Our mission is to lead collaborative innovation in the understanding and treatment of dermatologic disease through excellence in patient care, education, research, and community engagement.

Patient Care: Our team of award-winning, board-certified dermatologists and mid-level providers offers a wide array of dermatological services for both children and adults, providing quality patient care that includes treatment of skin cancer, inflammatory and infectious skin disorders, hair loss, nail disorders, and the full spectrum of complex skin diseases. Anchored by our longstanding NIH-funded research in vitiligo and other pigmentary disorders, we are proud to be recognized as a center of excellence for Skin of Color at each of our clinical sites. Our clinical services include medical dermatology, Mohs micrographic and dermatology surgery,  and cosmetic dermatology.

麻豆传媒高清: Our education programs include medical students, residents, and fellows. We offer a three-year ACGME-accredited residency (up to 6 slots per year), a one-year ACGME-accredited micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology fellowship, and a one-year pediatric ACGME-accredited fellowship. The residency is an integrated program that utilizes all four clinical sites. For residents interested in research training in the context of their dermatology residency, we offer a 2+2 program with two years of traditional residency, followed by two years of research training supported by our . We also offer fellowships in dermatology research. Graduates of our training programs have become academic and community leaders both regionally and nationally.

Research: Our faculty strive to discover the molecular and cellular basis of diseases affecting the skin and to apply this new knowledge to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of these diseases. Research activities include investigating the molecular biology and immunology of the skin, dermato-epidemiology, genetic determinants of skin diseases including skin cancer, and development of gene therapy approaches. Our Skin Diseases Research Center (SDRC), established by a P30 grant from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), focuses on understanding the molecular basis of human autoimmune, inflammatory, developmental, metabolic, and genetic skin diseases. Our longstanding  from NIAMS has been successfully supporting the career development of physician-scientists for 35 years.

Community Engagement: We are proud to offer dermatologic care delivery at , a key site in providing care to underserved communities. In addition, our clinical site at  delivers quality dermatology care to patients, with an emphasis on caring for Medicaid patients and other underserved communities.

Our goal is to provide world-class clinical care in an environment where discovery informs clinical practice and education. Thank you for visiting our website and learning about us. For more information, please contact us here.
