The Department of Surgery Resident Core Curriculum Conference is split into half day education sessions at the intern, junior, and senior levels. Half day sessions are held every four weeks, on Mondays from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Attendance is mandatory for all interns and junior vascular surgery residents.
This conference provides a systematic review of topics chosen from the Surgical Council on Resident 麻豆传媒高清 (SCORE) Curriculum Outline. The format consists of topic review, participant polling questions, and discussion of published articles and guidelines germane to the topic at hand.
Pre-Operative Case conference is held every Friday from 7:00 am - 8:00 a.m. and is for vascular trainees and general surgery residents rotating on the service at either University Hospital or the RMR VA Hospital. Presentation of cases are done by the senior trainee of each of the services, reviewing preoperative imaging and operative planning for cases. A list of the upcoming week's cases are provided the week prior.
Vascular trainees and general surgery residents on the service are required to attend vascular M&M and case conference. The conference is held on the first Monday of each month at 9:00 AM and third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 AM . The senior trainees on the service should be prepared to present any patient on their service at their respective hospital. Attendance at this conference is mandatory.
鈥嬧赌�鈥婱ultidisciplinary case conference with the Cardiothoracic service Mondays 8:00 - 9:00 AM.
Journal Club serves to review 2 or 3 pertinent articles chosen from a monthly survey of current vascular journals. Articles addressing basic science issues as well as clinical issues will be presented by the trainees on the service. Occurs on the third or fourth Tuesday of the month from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM.
This conference is held quarterly Wednesday 6:30-7:30 am. It includes presentation of statistics, results of ongoing QA reviews, and review of difficult or interesting cases in the Vascular Diagnostics laboratory.
Didactic conferences occur every Tuesday from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM. They include faculty lectures, trainee presentations, mock orals sessions, and question bank reviews.
All faculty, fellows, and residents are expected to attend the Department of Surgery Grand Rounds, every Monday 7:00 a.m - 8:00 a.m. in the University Hospital AIP auditorium. Attendance is taken electronically. Current Grand Rounds topics are always available on the main Surgery Department website.
