Developing Research Cohorts using Archival Surgical Pathology Specimens

In collaboration with the Pathology Shared Resource, Dr. Kathleen Torkko develops research cohorts using specimens from the Department of Pathology extensive surgical specimen archive (1990 to 2022). Dr. Torkko can assist and provide guidance with inclusion/exclusion criteria, discuss appropriate matching, determine sample size, and plan and perform statistical analyses. She can annotate the specimens with clinical and demographic data, including acting as an honest broker by providing deidentified specimens and data for Cancer Center members and others in the research community. The Pathology Shared Resource will process the specimens and provide appropriate material, including unstained sections or nucleic isolates.
