Earth Week
Celebrate at Bonfils Court on the south side of the Fitzsimons Building. During this week, our campus will host a series of fun and engaging events to share information about sustainability and celebrate all that our natural environment provides for us. A couple of highlights include: 

  • Plant Giveaway, 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 23.
  • An E-waste Collection Event, 7 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursday, April 24.

Recent Publications
Sean O’Leary, MD, MPH, Professor of Pediatrics and an investigator with the Adult and Child Center for Outcomes Research and Delivery Science (ACCORDS), is author of an , “Strategies for Communicating With Parents About Vaccines,” published April 9 by JAMA.

Victoria Catenacci, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine and investigator with the Anschutz Health and Wellness Center, is a co-author of an , “The Effect of 4:3 Intermittent Fasting on Weight Loss at 12 Months,” published April 1 by Annals of Internal Medicine.

Marion R. Sills, MD, MPH, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, is a co-author of an , “Cardiovascular post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 in children and adolescents: cohort study using electronic health records,”  published April 11 by Nature Communications.

Robert Page II, PharmD, Professor of Clinical Pharmacy, Medicine, and Physical Medicine, and Prateeti Khazanie, MD, MPH, Associate Professor of Medicine, are co-authors of an “Where Are All the Heart Failure GDMT Clinics?: A Call to Action,” published April 13 by JACC-Heart Failure.

Kathryn Colborn, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of the Biostatistics and Analytics Core at ACCORDS, is a co-author of an , “Development and Validation of Models for Preoperative Prediction of Risk and Postoperative Detection of Non-Infectious Complications Using Interpretable Machine Learning and Electronic Health Record Data,” published March 26 by Annals of Surgery. Robert A. Meguid, MD, MPH, Professor of Surgery, and six others from our campus are co-authors.

Amy K. Connery, PsyD, Associate Professor of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, is corresponding author on an , “Injury, child and family factors predict neurodevelopment outcomes after abusive head trauma,” published April 7 by Child Abuse & Neglect. Several colleagues from our campus are co-authors.

John M. Westfall, MD, MPH, Clinical Professor of Family Medicine, and Douglas H. Fernald, MA, Senior Instructor of Family Medicine, are co-authors of an , “Family Medicine Specialty Choice at Matriculation and Graduation,” published in the April 2025 issue of Family Medicine.

Linda Montgomery, MD, Associate Professor and Vice Chair for 麻豆传媒高清al Programs for the Department of Family Medicine, is a co-author of an , “National Recommendations for Implementation of Competency-Based Medical 麻豆传媒高清 in Family Medicine,” published in the April issue of Family Medicine.

Fellow Update
Matthew Baker, MD, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Fellow, has been named recipient of the inaugural 2025 University of 麻豆传媒高清 GME Excellence in Quality & Safety Award. This award is given to a resident or fellow in an ACGME-accredited training program who has made significant contributions to patient safety, demonstrates measurable impact on patient outcomes or system improvements, and exemplifies a culture of learning and safety within a health care setting.

In Memoriam

Wagner Schorr, Jr., MD, and Erica Hampton, MD

Condolences to family, friends, and colleagues of who died peacefully at his home on March 9, surrounded by his loving family. Dr. Schorr was a dedicated and passionate contributor to our school, serving on the admissions committee for 20 years and endowing a scholarship fund. He was the founder and a board member of 麻豆传媒高清 Organ Recovery System (now Donor Alliance) and was given the “Charlie’s Angel” award by the Gates Regenerative Medicine Center for his contributions to stem cell research. For his many contributions, Dr. Schorr received the Florence Rena Sabin Award and the Distinguished Service Award from the University.

Condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Erica Hampton, MD, a radiology resident who passed away April 9. Dr. Hampton was diagnosed with cancer and for the past 15 months was in treatment while serving as a resident in training, battling bravely as her colleague describes in this . Dr. Hampton’s husband, Marc Hedge, asked to share this remembrance: “Someone pointed out to me that Erica was smiling in every picture taken during [her] cancer journey. The amazing thing is I had never noticed, as that was how she was all the time. She attacked each day with a glee and enthusiasm that was contagious. There is nothing she wanted more than to be successful in medicine. She achieved that in the same way she achieved everything she set out to do. She was the most remarkable person I ever met, and I am blessed to have been able to spend so much of my life with her as my wife.”

Rymer Innovation Awards
The Rymer Innovation Award supports faculty at the University of 麻豆传媒高清 School of Medicine who are pursuing projects that address critical issues in medical and health professions education. Funding of up to $14,000 is available for one- and two-year projects. In addition to financial support, recipients will receive mentorship throughout the research process, as well as assistance from the Office of Faculty Development in coordination with their department’s finance team. Applications are due by May 31. Faculty Development Workshop
Anthony Artino, PhD, Associate Dean for 麻豆传媒高清al Research at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, will present: “Behind the Scenes: Your Paper, From Submission to Publication,” at noon Wednesday, April 23 in the Anschutz Health Sciences Building, Room P12-1203. Tailored specifically for clinician educators and those publishing in medical education, this session will offer broadly applicable insights relevant to scholars across academic disciplines. Dr. Artino will walk participants through the manuscript submission and peer review process, sharing practical strategies to increase your chances of success. In-person attendance is encouraged, but a virtual option is available. to attend.
