AME Faculty Travel Grants

The Academy of Medical Educators faculty travel grants program empower faculty to share their scholarship, innovations, and expertise in medical education on national and international stages. By supporting up to $2500 in expenses related to conference travel, these grants fuel professional growth, spark collaboration, and extend the impact of medical education across the field. 


Applications reviewed throughout the year

Please apply at least 3 months prior to travel.

Timeline

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and must be submitted at least three months before anticipated travel.

Eligibility

To be considered for an AME Faculty Travel Grant, applicants must:

  • Be a member of the Academy of Medical Educators
  • Hold a junior or mid-career faculty appointment (Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor)
  • Receive at least part of their salary support from the CU School of Medicine
  • Not have received an AME travel grant within the past 5 years
  • Have acceptance for an oral presentation, symposium, or workshop related to medical education at a national or international meeting
    (poster presentations are not eligible for travel support at this time)
  • Have departmental approval to travel
  • Submit the application at least 3 months prior to the conference

Priority Funding

Priority consideration is given to:

  • Applicants with prior involvement in the Academy of Medical Educators
  • Presentations in which the faculty member is first author
  • Presentations accepted at AAMC Learn Serve Lead, ACGME, AMEE, or WGEA
  • Presentations that include learners as co-authors

  • Explain how attending and/or presenting at this conference will advance your professional growth and career goals (200 words)
  • Describe how your participation at this conference will benefit your your institution (200 words)
  • Summarize your contributions to the Academy over the past year and how they have advanced its mission (200 words)

Awardee Expectations

Faculty receiving travel grant support are expected to:

  • Present their project at a ScEI Club meeting prior to the conference presentation
  • Acknowledge support from the CU SOM Academy of Medical Educators on a presentation slide
  • Submit a copy of the final presentation to som.academy@cuanschutz.edu within one month of conference completion
