Administrative Assistant (CU Anschutz Medical Campus)

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Administrative Assistant position.

Positions in this level provide general clerical support to the office and academic operations of a department. Work includes, but is not limited to, administrative support to faculty, credentialing, travel coordination, ordering supplies, procurement functions, and other administrative tasks to support the unit’s work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage complex faculty schedules/calendars as needed to include clinical activities and administrative responsibilities.
  • Maintain faculty CV’s, various web-based profiles, and promotional portfolios.
  • Coordinate travel logistics and expenditures for faculty and visitors; establish reasonable travel budgets and plans in accordance with University policies and procedures.
  • Create expense reports to reconcile charges on procurement cards and submit reimbursement requests through University and CU Medicine Concur.
  • Route med-legal/consulting contracts for faculty; Process med-legal billings
  • Provide back-up support for other office personnel and participate in shared duties of support staff.
  • Perform additional duties, assigned or unassigned, as required by the nature and scope of the position and in accordance with University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå policies.

 

Vice Chair of Research - Open Rank: Associate Professor - Professor (CU Anschutz Medical Campus) 

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå School of Medicine’s mission is to provide outstanding, cutting-edge clinical care, research, and state-of-the-art training. The Department is seeking a Vice Chair of Research to further the department’s research mission, promoting programmatic and interdisciplinary initiatives in basic, clinical, translational, and health services research. As the dedicated leader of department research, the Vice Chair of Research will have a close working relationship with the Chair of Otolaryngology, CU Medicine, University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå Health (UCHealth), Children’s Hospital of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå (CHCO), our affiliates (DH, VA), faculty members across the entire department and other stakeholders across campus.  

The ideal candidate will hold the degree of MD (with board certification in an otolaryngology subspecialty) or a PhD in laboratory-based bench research, or both. They should have an outstanding record of achievement and national prominence in basic/translational/clinic research. The ideal candidate must also possess leadership experience running research programs in a comparable academic department or healthcare setting. The candidate is expected to be a scientist with a solid track record of extramural funding. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Partner with Department leadership to develop the research mission, strategic plan, tactics for achieving the goals of the strategic plan, and metrics for measuring success. Ensure that department goals are in alignment with goals of the School of Medicine.
  • Partner with the Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs and the Vice Chair of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå to develop a mentorship program and opportunities for development of research-focused faculty. These efforts will include developing and refining novel early and mid-career support programs, bridge funding programs, exploring PSTP program and other efforts to ensure recruitment, retention and success for clinician scientists, laboratory scientists, and other researchers within the Department.
  • Partner with the Vice Chair of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå in the implementation and management of Research Related Training grants to include a T32 and R25.
  • Advise on the recruitment of research fellows, staff, and faculty with the Chair
  • Mentor residents, research fellows, and/or graduate students.
  • Oversee and advise on departmental research efforts with an emphasis on forming and encouraging scientific collaborations, with the goal of increasing publications and funded research. Interface with other departments desiring to conduct studies regarding collaboration on new and existing projects, building and enhancing collaborative relationships across the enterprise.
  • Support the Resident Program by actively engaging and supporting resident’s research efforts including active involvement in the annual Resident Research Day.
  • Participate actively in departmental committees including Executive Committee, Faculty Search Committees, and Residency Search and Review Committees.
  • In conjunction with the Research (Administrative) Program Director, track total number of research projects and clinical trials that are being conducted and work with members of the Department of Otolaryngology faculty to increase these activities on an ongoing basis.
  • Partner with leaders in informatics and innovations within the SOM and the campus to expand the role these critical fields play in otolaryngology research.
  • Partner closely with Department and SOM Quality Improvement efforts to integrate research in quality improvement and patient safety to advance medicine and improve patient outcomes.
  • Enhance the communication of research activities and findings in the Department
  • Lead an annual departmental research retreat to continually evaluate and evolve Department research strategy and tactics

The Virtual Hearing Lab of Dr. Vinaya Manchaiah, Professor and Director of Audiology in the Department of Otolaryngology, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for a full-time position on the University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå Denver Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.

The Virtual Hearing Lab is an interdisciplinary collaborative research initiative with the aim to improve hearing health access, affordability, and outcomes by capitalizing on the internet, virtual spaces, and digital health.

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to oversee the research on hearing aid service delivery model and contribute to several projects on hearing aids specifically examining the feasibility, efficacy and effectiveness of over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids.

The postdoctoral fellow is expected to work between Dr. Manchaiah’s Virtual hearing Lab at the Anschutz Medical Campus at Aurora and Dr. Anu Sharma’s Brain and Behavior Laboratory at the University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå Boulder.

The PI is committed to supporting the candidate’s career development and research progress, including the exploration of new project areas and collaborations.

 

 

Open Rank Assistant Professor - Neurotology MD (UCHealth Highlands Ranch Campus)

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå School of Medicine’s mission is to provide outstanding, cutting-edge clinical care, research, and state-of-the-art training. The Department is seeking a board-eligible or board-certified neurotologist to join the full-time faculty. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Clinical service in the field of Neurotology, with the primary location for this position being the UCHealth Highlands Ranch campus, with additional practice within affiliated hospitals/clinics including the University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus.
  • Teaching and mentoring of residents, medical students, and other related trainees.

    Open Rank Assistant Professor - Facial Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery MD (CU Anschutz Medical Campus)

    The Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery is seeking a board-eligible or board-qualified otolaryngologist with subspecialty training in Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery (FPRS) to join the full-time faculty. Particular consideration will be given to candidates with experience/interest in facial nerve reanimation, transgender surgery, cosmetic procedures, and/or clinical research. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    • Clinical service in the field of FPRS, with the primary location for this position being the University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå Hospital at Anschutz Medical Campus as well as surrounding network of care sites.
    • Development of a clinical program in an area of growth at the University of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå, specifically in facial nerve reanimation, transgender surgery, cosmetic procedures, and/or clinical research.

    Open Rank Professor - Pediatric Otolaryngologist - MD (Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå Springs)

    The Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery is seeking a full-time pediatric otolaryngologist for its pediatric practice at Children's Hospital Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå, located in Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå Springs, Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå.  This position will also be responsible for leadership and coordination of the cleft lip and palate program as the Cleft Medical Director for Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå Springs. This position will work directly with the cleft team leadership at the Metro Denver Children’s Hospital of Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå as well.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Clinical/OR service in the field of Pediatric Otolaryngology, with the primary location for this position being Children’s Hospital Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå/Briargate Outpatient Facility in Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå Springs.
    • Lead the cleft lip and palate team in Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå Springs, fostering collaboration among various specialists including surgeons, speech therapists, psychologists, and nutritionists. They will also partner with the Cleft Lip/Palate team at the Metro Denver campus, headed by Pediatric Otolaryngologist Christopher Discolo, MD.

    The Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery is seeking a board-eligible or board-qualified pediatric otolaryngologist to join the full-time faculty. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    • Clinical service in the field of Pediatric Otolaryngology, with the primary location for this position being Children’s Hospital Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå located at Anschutz Medical Campus as well as surrounding network of care sites.- Teaching and mentoring of fellows, residents, medical students, and other related trainees.

    Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner - Instructor (multiple positions available) 

    The Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery is seeking energetic individuals for full-time Advanced Practice Provider positions for its adult practice. We are seeking multiple open positions at this time, in a variety of subspecialties and practice locations as our department continues to grow! The qualified candidates will be appointed to the rank of Instructor within the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery. 

    We are seeking one position to be located at the Cherry Creek Medical Center. The provider will practice independently in an outpatient setting, in a shared suite with several subspecialty Otolaryngology MDs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    • The advanced practice provider will be expected to support all facets of the outpatient clinical service to include the following: manage new and return patient visits, provide pre-operative and post-operative education and care, and coordination of care with providers within and outside the University setting. This will take place in concert with RN and MA staff already in place.
    • The candidate will be trained to perform office-based procedures such as nasal endoscopy, flexible laryngoscopy, minor biopsies and cerumen removal.

    We are seeking positions within our head & neck cancer practice to be located at the Anschutz Medical Campus. As an active member of the head & neck surgery team, the candidate will work under the supervision of experienced head & neck surgeons in the outpatient and/or inpatient setting supporting a large academic tertiary referral practice focusing on the management of complex head and neck cancer patients. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    • The advanced practice provider will be expected to support all facets of the outpatient clinical service to include the following: manage new and return patient visits, provide pre-operative and post-operative education and care, and coordination of care with providers within and outside the University setting. This will take place in concert with RN and MA staff already in place.
    • The candidate will be trained to perform office-based procedures such as fiberoptic laryngoscopy, nasal endoscopy, management of feeding tubes, management of tracheostomy tubes, and office-based procedures such as simple biopsies.
    • The advanced practice provider will be expected to support all facets of the inpatient clinical service to include the following: daily rounds, patient orders, inpatient progress notes, obtaining consultations and coordinating inpatient care. 

    We are seeking additional positions in the outpatient and/or inpatient settings at the Anschutz Medical Campus and surrounding network of care sites. Positions may be within subspecialty practice such as Otology, Rhinology, Facial Plastics, Sleep, or General Otolaryngology. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    • For inpatient positions, the advanced practice provider will work under the supervision of the adult faculty otolaryngologists to provide primarily inpatient care, with the potential for occasional outpatient follow-up care. The advanced practice provider will be expected to support all facets of the inpatient clinical service, to include the following:
      • Admission of patients during weekday hours.
      • Daily rounding on patients with the Chief Resident and resident team and assistance with clinical documentation.
      • Discharge planning for patients on service, including care coordination of home health and supplies (such as tracheostomy supplies and care, tube feedings, wound care).
      • Consultations, both inpatient and from the emergency department, during weekday hours. Performed bedside procedures, such as endoscopy and biopsy, as appropriate.
      • Perform patient and family education as well as obtaining surgical consents, as appropriate.
      • Direct communication with nursing, respiratory therapy, social work, consulting services, and other care management teams as well as PCPs is expected.
      • For outpatient positions, the advanced practice provider will work under the supervision of the faculty otolaryngologist. The position will be expected to support all facets of the outpatient clinical service to include the following: manage new and return patient visits, provide pre-operative and post-operative education and care, and coordination of care with providers within and outside the University setting. This will take place in concert with RN and MA staff already in place.
      • The candidate will be trained to perform office-based procedures such as fiberoptic laryngoscopy, nasal endoscopy, management of feeding tubes, management of tracheostomy tubes, flexible laryngoscopy, minor biopsies, and cerumen removal.
