Swelling Management after Total Knee Arthroplasty

About this study: The purpose of this study is to determine if a short stretch compression garment is more effective at reducing swelling after knee replacement than standard elastic garments (TED hose)

To take part in this study: 

You must:

  • Be undergoing a primary knee replacement for osteoarthritis at Porter Adventist Hospital with one of our participating surgeons (Jennings, Yang, and Miner)
  • Be aged 50 years or older
  • Be willing to participate in a standardized rehabilitation at a participating clinical site in the Denver metro area twice per week for the first three weeks after surgery
  • Be able to travel to Porter Adventist Hospital for study related assessments before surgery and 1,2,3,and 12 weeks after surgery
