IR APP Fellowship

Program Overview:

The Interventional Radiology Advanced Practice Provider (IR APP) Fellowship is a comprehensive, 12-month post-graduate training program designed to equip early-career Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) with the clinical and procedural expertise necessary to excel in the dynamic field of Interventional Radiology (IR).

This immersive fellowship bridges the gap between general APP education and the specialized demands of IR, offering a structured curriculum that encompasses hands-on procedural training, didactic instruction, and direct clinical experience. Fellows will work closely with experienced interventional radiology APP’s and Physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to develop proficiency across a wide range of image-guided procedures and peri-procedural patient care.

    Program Goals

    • Provide in-depth training in IR procedures and patient management
    • Support fellows in obtaining fluoroscopy certification and other required procedural credentials
    • Build a strong foundation in clinical decision-making and image interpretation
    • Prepare fellows to function independently and confidently in any IR practice setting

Due to the steep learning curve in IR—which integrates advanced procedural skills with complex clinical care—this fellowship is designed to offer the focused time, mentorship, and resources necessary for APPs to succeed in this high-acuity specialty.

Upon completion of the program, fellows will be credentialed for IR procedures and will have the competence and confidence to contribute meaningfully in both academic and community IR environments.
