Who We Are

The Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative strives to prevent firearm-related injuries and deaths in homes and communities across Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå and the U.S. through collaboration, research, and education. We are committed to an approach rooted in:

  • Recognition of a common goal of health and security,
  • Respect for and consideration of a wide range of views and experiences, and
  • Engagement of impacted communities and those with lived experiences

What's New

Upcoming Event: Documentary & Dialogue: A Night with the CU Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative

June 22, 2025, 6:30pm MDT

Join FIPI for a screening of "The Tennessee 11," a film following a group of individuals who come together from across the political spectrum to find common ground on gun rights and safety. Following the screening, FIPI will facilitate a panel discussion featuring community leaders from varied backgrounds partnering with FIPI and engaging in collaborative firearm injury prevention in Âé¶¹´«Ã½¸ßÇå. This non-partisan event will foster respectful and constructive dialogue across diverse viewpoints and highlight success in our state. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds to attend and share their perspectives in a spirit of mutual respect.

Centered around the theme “From All Angles,” this year’s report reflects our ongoing belief that meaningful, lasting progress in firearm injury prevention requires action across disciplines, sectors, perspectives, and communities.

FIPI Hosts Conversation with National Expert on Evolving Public Health Communications 

FIPI, in partnership with the and the , hosted a visiting lecture with Founder and CEO of Your Local Epidemiologist, Katelyn Jetelina, PhD, MPH. Her presentation shared insights on public health communication and the importance of educating and building trust with public audiences. .

FIPI Firearm Business Office Hours

Join FIPI for virtual office hours hosted by firearm industry partners and experienced secure storage program facilitators. These sessions are open to any firearm business (shooting ranges, retailers, instructors, etc.) interested in secure storage and/or suicide prevention education or services (on-site storage, distributing devices).

These sessions occur monthly:

  • First Thursdays at 11 A.M. MST
  • Third Wednesdays at 11 A.M. MST
