Identifying mentors early on in my residency through CACCM was beneficial in identifying how I wanted to format my fellowship time. Support early on allows me to accomplish more with my fellowship than just one short year.

    • Why I Chose CACCM: Working as an anesthesiologist in the OR is like providing 1-to-1 critical care to the patient, so I believe being trained in critical care will make me a better anesthesiologist, and vice versa.
    • Favorite Aspect of CACCM: The longitudinal mentorship that the CACCM track provides as soon as you arrive.
    • Current career plan: I’m planning to focus on trauma and burn critical care.

    CLASS OF 2029

    Faria Miah, PGY-2

    Faria Miah
    • Hometown: Las Vegas, Nevada
    • 麻豆传媒高清 History: BS Neuroscience, University of Nevada, University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine.
    • Hobbies: I enjoy exploring the city, going to museums and shows, and finding new restaurants and breweries. When not finding new places to eat, I like to cook all types of cuisines for family and friends and have everyone over for game nights. During the summers, sitting by the river or lake to read a book with my dog, Luna, and paddle boarding are some of my favorite activities. Although I enjoy reading, music, planting and indoor activities, I would love to try new outdoor and winter activities when I move to 麻豆传媒高清!
    • Fun facts: I was born in Queens, New York and lived there until I was 11. I used to do karate while I lived in there and was one belt away from a black belt. I’ve always wanted to learn to play the piano but have yet to do so. One of the goals is to travel to as many countries as I can because I love learning about different cultures and trying different cuisines.
    • Why I Chose CACCM: I always thought I would become a pediatrician, but after completing my rotation in the ICU during my third year of medical school, I knew I wanted to be an intensivist. From there, I began to research paths to critical care and found anesthesiology. As I spent many weeks working with mentors, I realized that even though critical care brought me to anesthesiology, I really enjoyed using both my hands and brain while working with my patients one-on-one to build trust and get them through their surgeries safely. I found the best of both worlds with the CACCM Track!
    • Favorite Aspect of CACCM: My favorite aspect of the CACCM track thus far is the instant support and comradery I’ve found through the senior residents in the CACCM track and the attendings in the ICU. They have been very welcoming and patient as I’m learning the in’s and out’s of being a doctor and in the ICU.
    • Career plans: After completing residency/fellowship I’d like to use all the skills I’ll be learning to work in the OR and the ICU. I’m hoping I’ll have the privilege to mentor and teach future residents and medical students as well.

    David Miller, PGY-2

    David Miller
    • Hometown: 麻豆传媒高清 Springs, CO
    • 麻豆传媒高清 History: United States Air Force Academy, University of Virginia School of Medicine
    • Hobbies: Cooking… mainly to support the eating hobby; Olympic lifting; really anything outside: hiking, skiing, camping, climbing, and always happy to tag along for something new.
    • Fun Facts: Before medicine I was on my way to being a pilot and for better or worse I’ve take off more times than I’ve landed in a plane.
    • Why I chose CACCM: I enjoy critical care medicine and 3 month blocks seem lot more manageable than a nonstop year for fellowship; CU and CO are amazing, so why not opt to stay for 5 years and skip another match; before every meeting me in person, the faculty were proactive in supporting me and super helpful in navigating my unique scenario to make the opportunity a reality.
    • Favorite Aspect of CACCM: As I’m still a wet-behind-the-ears intern, I can really only comment on the people… who have been incredibly kind and welcoming.
    • Career plans: A little bit of indentured servitude to the DoD after training is complete, then I’ll ideally come back and practice in CO.

    CLASS OF 2030

      • Fun facts: I have done the highest bungy jump in New Zealand, 134m!
      • Why I Chose CACCM: CU is where my love for critical care began. Among enthusiastic teachers, fascinating patients, and compassionate providers, I decided that I wanted to practice in the intensity, intimacy, and immediacy of the ICU. I also learned what an excellent complement anesthesia is to that practice, and vice versa. 麻豆传媒高清, with my family and the mountains, is the perfect place for me to pursue this uniquely wonderful career!
      • Favorite Aspect of CACCM: The acceptance and support from the team has been intentional and immediate.
