Mission Statement
Upon completion of this year, one will be proficient in the management of perioperative pain. They will utilize various procedural and medicinal modalities with a focus on ultrasound use, floor management and resident education.
Program Description
- Accreditation: Non-ACGME Accredited
- Number of positions per year: 4 (four)
- Stipend: 60% Fellow (PGY-V)/40% Attending
Structure
The Fellowship takes place at University of 麻豆传媒高清 Hospital, in Aurora, 麻豆传媒高清. UCH is a full-service 600-bed, adult academic medical center. The hospital includes large inpatient and outpatient surgical areas.
The Fellowship is composed as such:
- 60% Fellow
- Ultrasound guided and Nerve-stim peripheral nerve blocks
- Nerve block catheters: both inpatient and outpatient
- Neuraxial analgesia techniques
- Epidural management and titration
- Management of acute pai鈥媙, largely in the surgical patient
- Management of acute-on-chronic pain
- Multimodal medication and non-pharmacologic management
- Hands-on teaching resident-physicians Regional and Acute pain
- Multi-disciplinary patient management
- Research project in Regional/Acute pain realm
- 40% Attending – Senior Instructor
- Solo cases vs Supervision of residents, AAs, CRNAS
- Hands-on teaching of resident-physicians, student AAs, SRNAs
- All cases covered, except: Cardiac, Thoracic, Liver Transplant
- “Moonlighting” - Possible paid-call opportunities on Attending days
The schedule will typically break down to a week of “Fellow activity,” with an alternating week of attending activity. Additionally, the Regional & Acute Pain fellows will alternate weekly coverage, so as to allow the Acute Pain Service to have 100% Fellow staffing.
