This advanced fellowship provides training in the area of regional anesthesia and acute pain management in children. The training focuses on the management of routine and complex post-operative pain in children. Learning opportunities will include clinical experience, didactic instruction, and participation in research and/or quality improvement. The advanced fellowship will create specialists uniquely qualified to plan and perform single-shot and continuous regional anesthetic techniques and manage the perioperative analgesic needs of both acute and chronic pediatric pain patients.
The fellow will receive a 12-month hybrid faculty-fellow appointment equivalent to 0.5 FTE. Time will be divided between approximately two months of acute pain, one month of chronic pain, 2 months of research/quality improvement/academic time, 4.5 months as a clinical instructor, 1.5 months of regional anesthesia, and one month of vacation.
